Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and discreet Private Boat Captain to manage and operate a principal’s luxury vessel. Based out of Sedona, Arizona, this role requires the ability to travel extensively with the principal and vessel to various coastal and lake destinations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong maritime background, meticulous attention to detail, excellent mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to providing an unparalleled level of safety, service, and privacy. You will be responsible for all aspects of vessel operation, maintenance, crew management (if applicable), and ensuring a flawless private boating experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and navigate the principal's luxury vessel in various waters (coastal, lake, open ocean).
• Perform comprehensive pre-departure checks, ongoing maintenance, and post-trip securing procedures.
• Manage vessel systems, including propulsion, navigation, communication, and safety equipment.
• Oversee all vessel maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, coordinating with external vendors as needed.
• Ensure strict adherence to all maritime regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
• Plan and execute itineraries, including provisioning, fueling, and port logistics.
• Maintain meticulous logs and records of vessel operations, maintenance, and expenses.
• Provide exceptional service and discretion to the principal and their guests.
• Manage and train any auxiliary crew members, if required.
• Handle all aspects of vessel transportation, including coordinating haul-outs and deliveries.
• Maintain the vessel's immaculate condition, both aesthetically and mechanically.

Required Skills

• USCG Master's License (100-ton or higher preferred, or equivalent international certification).
• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of experience as a Captain on private luxury vessels.
• Extensive knowledge of maritime navigation, regulations, and safety procedures.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with marine engine systems and vessel diagnostics.
• Proficiency in modern navigation electronics (GPS, radar, sonar, autopilot).
• Advanced first aid and CPR certification.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
• Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specific luxury yacht brands or types (e.g., motor yachts, sailing yachts).
• STCW certification.
• Engineering qualifications or advanced marine systems certifications.
• Proficiency in a second language.
• Experience with charter operations or high-end hospitality services.
• Advanced open water diving certification.
