Job Description
As a Warehouse Material Handler at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in our fulfillment operations, ensuring the efficient movement and storage of products within our facility. This fast-paced position requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be responsible for receiving, picking, packing, and shipping customer orders, contributing directly to Amazon’s promise of rapid and reliable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming inventory accurately and efficiently.
- Pick customer orders using handheld scanners and other warehouse equipment.
- Pack and label products for shipment, ensuring items are protected and correctly dispatched.
- Load and unload trucks and containers safely and efficiently, often requiring manual lifting.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) such such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks (training and certification may be provided).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following 5S principles.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and operational procedures to prevent incidents and injuries.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds regularly, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts that may exceed 8 hours.
- Comfortable working in an environment with varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions.
- Basic computer literacy for operating warehouse management systems and handheld devices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, especially when handling inventory.
- Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to follow directions precisely.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for maintaining operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, fulfillment, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating powered industrial trucks (PIT) or willingness to be trained and certified.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Experience with inventory management systems (WMS) or similar logistics software.
