Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Virtual Community Moderator to join our global team. This is a fully remote position, open to candidates in Mumias, Kakamega County, Kenya, and surrounding areas. As a Virtual Community Moderator, you will be on the front lines of maintaining a positive and secure experience across Meta’s platforms. You will review user-generated content, enforce community guidelines, and contribute to a healthy online ecosystem. We provide comprehensive training, so prior moderation experience is not required; a strong commitment to digital safety and excellent judgment are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Review user-generated content (posts, comments, images, videos) for adherence to community guidelines and terms of service.
- Take appropriate action on violating content, including removal, warning, or escalation to senior moderators.
- Respond to user inquiries and appeals regarding moderation decisions with empathy and clarity.
- Monitor trends and identify emerging issues or types of harmful content.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve moderation policies and tools.
- Participate in ongoing training and calibration sessions to ensure consistent application of guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive remote team environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with attention to detail.
- High level of empathy and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Comfortable with reviewing potentially sensitive or disturbing content.

- Familiarity with Meta's platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) as a user.
- Experience in customer service or support roles.
- Knowledge of digital safety, online etiquette, or content policy.
- Ability to communicate in additional local languages (e.g., Swahili, Luhya) is a plus.
