Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Pathologist to join our expert team in Wolverhampton. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely diagnostic interpretations of a wide range of veterinary samples, including biopsy tissues, cytology specimens, and post-mortem examinations. You will play a key role in supporting veterinary practitioners with critical diagnostic information, contributing directly to animal health and welfare outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross and microscopic examination of submitted tissue samples, including biopsies and necropsy specimens.
 - Provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports for histopathology, cytopathology, and potentially post-mortem cases.
 - Collaborate with referring veterinarians to discuss case findings, provide consultations, and offer diagnostic guidance.
 - Participate in quality assurance programs and contribute to the continuous improvement of diagnostic protocols.
 - Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of veterinary pathology advances.
 - Assist in the training and mentorship of junior pathologists, residents, or technical staff as required.
 - Contribute to internal research projects or case studies to advance diagnostic capabilities.
 - Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and internal quality procedures.
 
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
 - Board-certified in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology (e.g., ACVP, ECVP, FRCPath by examination) or eligibility for certification.
 - Demonstrated expertise in the diagnostic interpretation of histopathology and cytopathology from various animal species.
 - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective consultation with veterinarians and team members.
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory.
 - Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and standard office software.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or other advanced degree in a relevant scientific field.
 - Experience with digital pathology and whole slide imaging.
 - Special interest or expertise in specific animal species (e.g., equine, exotics, production animals).
 - Previous experience working in a high-volume commercial diagnostic laboratory setting.
 - Track record of scientific publications or presentations at professional conferences.
