Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of animal illnesses, injuries, and health conditions.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including soft tissue and dental extractions.
• Provide comprehensive preventative care, including vaccinations, parasite control, and wellness examinations.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
• Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and patient care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with veterinary best practices.
• Adhere to all provincial and federal regulations governing veterinary practice.

Required Skills

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
• Eligible for or holding current licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO).
• Proven strong diagnostic, medical, and surgical skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a client-focused approach.
• Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and integrity in patient care and client interactions.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced clinical setting.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of post-graduate clinical experience in a small animal practice.
• Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging (e.g., ultrasound, digital radiography).
• Special interest or advanced training in specific areas such as internal medicine, dentistry, or emergency care.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
• Fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
