Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of animal illnesses, injuries, and health conditions.
- Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including soft tissue and dental extractions.
- Provide comprehensive preventative care, including vaccinations, parasite control, and wellness examinations.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations and patient care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with veterinary best practices.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal regulations governing veterinary practice.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for or holding current licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO).
- Proven strong diagnostic, medical, and surgical skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a client-focused approach.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and integrity in patient care and client interactions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of post-graduate clinical experience in a small animal practice.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging (e.g., ultrasound, digital radiography).
- Special interest or advanced training in specific areas such as internal medicine, dentistry, or emergency care.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
- Fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
