Job Description
Bupa Australia is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterans Claims Examiner to join our team in Geelong. In this critical role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing and processing claims submitted by Australian veterans and their families, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. You will play a vital part in providing timely and empathetic support to those who have served our nation, navigating complex claim requirements and communicating clearly with claimants. This position requires strong analytical skills, a meticulous approach to detail, and a compassionate understanding of veterans’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and adjudicate veterans' claims in accordance with the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986, Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004, and associated policies.
- Gather and evaluate all necessary documentation, medical reports, and evidence to support claims.
- Communicate with veterans, their representatives, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to clarify information or obtain additional details.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of all claims and decisions using internal systems.
- Identify and resolve complex claim issues, escalating when necessary.
- Provide clear, concise, and empathetic explanations of claim decisions to applicants.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the claims processing function.
- Ensure strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in claims assessment or a related administrative role, preferably within insurance, healthcare, or government services.
- Strong understanding of Australian veterans' affairs legislation and entitlements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in using claims management systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume workload and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in law, health administration, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working directly with veterans or in a veteran support capacity.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and conditions relevant to veterans' health.
- Experience with Bupa's internal claims systems.
