Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterans Claims Examiner to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. In this vital role, you will play a crucial part in assisting veterans and their families by processing and evaluating complex claims related to disability, benefits, and entitlements. You will apply your expertise in relevant laws, regulations, and policies to ensure accurate and timely determinations, directly contributing to the well-being of those who have served our nation. Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze complex veterans' claims for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established guidelines and regulations.
- Interpret and apply federal laws, policies, and procedures pertaining to veterans' benefits and entitlements.
- Gather and evaluate medical records, service records, and other relevant documentation to support claims decisions.
- Communicate effectively with veterans, their representatives, and internal stakeholders to clarify information and explain decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and decision letters outlining findings and justifications for claims determinations.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files and ensure all data entry is precise and timely.
- Collaborate with legal, medical, and administrative teams to resolve complex claims issues.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with changes in veterans' benefits laws and policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in claims processing, adjudications, or a related field, preferably within a government or healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of federal regulations, particularly those related to veterans' benefits (e.g., Title 38, CFR).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting medical and legal documentation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ethical conduct and commitment to client confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration, Healthcare Management).
- Direct experience working with veterans' benefits, the VA, or military service personnel.
