Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Veterans Benefits Administrator to join our Public Sector Consulting team in Manchester. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in supporting veterans and their families by guiding them through the complex landscape of available benefits and ensuring they receive the support they are entitled to. This position requires a compassionate individual with a strong understanding of the UK veterans’ support framework and exceptional administrative skills. You will work closely with various government agencies, charities, and service providers to advocate for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive advice and guidance to veterans and their families regarding eligibility for various benefits, including pensions, housing, healthcare, education, and employment support.
- Assist veterans with the completion and submission of benefit applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.
- Liaise effectively with government bodies, local authorities, charitable organisations, and other support services to facilitate access to benefits and resolve issues.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of client interactions, applications, and outcomes using secure database systems.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to monitor application progress and provide ongoing support.
- Stay informed about changes in legislation, policies, and available benefits relevant to the veteran community.
- Organise and participate in outreach events and workshops to raise awareness of available support for veterans.
- Prepare reports and present findings on client needs and service effectiveness to internal stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an administrative or advisory role, preferably within a benefits, social services, or public sector environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the UK veterans' benefits system, including an understanding of relevant legislation and service providers.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with database management systems.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support the veteran community.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
- Prior experience working directly with veterans or military personnel.
- Experience with case management software or client relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for occasional travel to client sites or outreach events.
