Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Urban Planner to join our dynamic team in San Antonio, TX. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the planning, design, and implementation of various urban development projects, contributing to sustainable growth and enhancing community livability. This role involves working with diverse stakeholders, conducting detailed analyses, and developing comprehensive plans that align with local regulations and community visions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on demographic trends, land use patterns, transportation systems, and environmental factors.
- Prepare comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and design guidelines for urban development projects.
- Engage with community groups, government agencies, and other stakeholders through public meetings and workshops.
- Develop and present planning proposals, reports, and recommendations to clients and regulatory bodies.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning software for data analysis and visualization.
- Ensure all planning activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, architects, and environmental scientists.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional urban planning experience.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Strong understanding of land use law, zoning regulations, and comprehensive planning principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning or a closely related discipline.
- AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Experience working with municipal or county government agencies.
- Familiarity with urban design principles and smart growth strategies.
