Job Description
Pitblado Law is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trial Attorney to join our dynamic litigation team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in representing clients in various legal proceedings, from complex civil litigation to administrative hearings. This position requires an individual with a strong command of trial procedures, exceptional advocacy skills, and a proven track record of successful courtroom experience. You will manage a diverse caseload, conduct thorough legal research, draft legal documents, and provide strategic advice to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of litigation from inception through trial and appeal, including discovery, motion practice, and settlement negotiations.
- Prepare and present cases in court, tribunals, and other legal forums.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Interview witnesses, depose parties, and prepare expert testimony.
- Develop and execute effective litigation strategies.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely legal advice to clients.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals and support staff.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Manitoba and in good standing with the Law Society of Manitoba.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Trial Attorney.
- Proven track record of successful trial experience.
- Exceptional oral advocacy and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and mediation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a diverse range of civil litigation matters, including commercial, personal injury, or administrative law.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior lawyers and legal assistants.
- Active participation in legal community organizations.
