Job Description

Union Pacific Railroad is actively seeking skilled and safety-conscious Train Drivers to join our dynamic team in Henderson, Nevada. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate trains safely and efficiently in accordance with federal regulations, company rules, and operating procedures.
  • Control locomotive speed, braking, and other functions to ensure smooth train movement and on-time performance.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of locomotives and other equipment, identifying and reporting any defects or malfunctions.
  • Interpret and respond to signals, track warrants, and other communication systems.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, other crew members, and personnel regarding train movements and conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of crew, public, and cargo.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on locomotives as required.
  • Work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available for on-call assignments.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a heavy equipment operation, transportation, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to safety regulations and operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex instructions and signals.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including climbing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Willingness to relocate if not already in the Henderson, NV area and commit to long-term employment.
