Job Description
Union Pacific Railroad is seeking dedicated and skilled Train Drivers to join our team in Gulfport, Mississippi. Key Responsibilities
- Operate trains in accordance with all federal regulations (FRA), company rules, and safety procedures.
- Monitor train speed, air brake pressure, and other gauges to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of locomotives and associated equipment.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, conductors, and other crew members.
- Adhere to signals, track warrants, and other operational instructions.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and report defects as required.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and electronic reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain constant awareness of surroundings to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, conduct, and operations.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) certification.
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Physical ability to climb, lift, push, pull, and work in various weather conditions.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic troubleshooting.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States or ability to obtain necessary visa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a train driver, conductor, or in a related rail operations role.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or commercial vehicles.
- Associate's degree or vocational training in transportation or logistics.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
