Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious Train Drivers to join our dynamic team in Provo, Utah. This is an exceptional opportunity for qualified individuals, including those requiring visa sponsorship, to contribute to the safe and efficient movement of goods across our extensive rail network. As a Train Driver, you will be responsible for operating locomotives, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of freight, and adhering strictly to all federal, state, and company regulations. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our operations and upholding Union Pacific’s commitment to safety and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives and trains in compliance with all Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and company rules and procedures.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of locomotives and other equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions.
• Monitor track conditions, signals, and other operational indicators to ensure safe passage.
• Manage train speeds, braking, and coupling/uncoupling operations with precision.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, yard masters, and other crew members via radio and other communication systems.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including hazardous materials handling and emergency procedures.
• Complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs accurately and in a timely manner.
• Be prepared to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available for on-call assignments.

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a certified Train Driver or similar heavy equipment operator.
• Valid Engineer's License (FRA certified) or ability to obtain one.
• Strong understanding of railroad operating rules, safety procedures, and FRA regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety.
• Physical ability to perform duties, including climbing, lifting, and standing for long periods.
• Successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with various locomotive types and freight operations.
• Familiarity with Union Pacific's operating territory and systems.
• Advanced training in railway safety and emergency response.
• Proficiency in using electronic logging devices and dispatch systems.
