Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Telecommunications Engineer to join our dynamic team in Woking, Surrey. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy telecommunications network equipment and systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other stakeholders.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical network incidents.
- Evaluate new telecommunication technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 48 months (4 years) of experience in telecommunications network design, implementation, and operations.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies (VLANs, STP).
- Experience with wireless technologies (4G/5G, Wi-Fi) and associated infrastructure.
- Proficiency in network diagnostic tools and monitoring systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS-SP, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible).
- Knowledge of optical fiber communication systems and technologies.
- Experience with voice over IP (VoIP) and unified communications.
