Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Tax Assessor to join our dynamic team in Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately assessing and valuing properties or assets for tax purposes, ensuring compliance with local and national tax regulations. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of tax law and valuation methodologies. You will play a crucial role in providing expert advice and support to clients on various tax-related matters, contributing to our reputation for excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough property and asset valuations for tax assessment purposes.
  • Interpret and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and valuation standards.
  • Prepare and present detailed assessment reports and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, explaining assessment processes and findings.
  • Assist clients with tax appeals and disputes, providing expert evidence and support.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and valuation practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all assessments and client interactions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Tax Assessor or in a similar valuation role.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and property valuation principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in tax assessment software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in taxation (e.g., CTA, ATT) or valuation (e.g., RICS).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Experience with complex commercial property valuations.
  • Knowledge of local government assessment practices in the UK.
