Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Consultant to join our growing team in Long Beach, California. This role is crucial in assisting our diverse client base in developing and implementing sustainable strategies, navigating complex environmental regulations, and achieving their ESG objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in sustainability principles, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating a more resilient and equitable future. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to sustainability consulting projects, including ESG strategy development, climate risk assessment, circular economy initiatives, and environmental impact analyses.
- Conduct research, data analysis, and benchmarking to support client sustainability goals and reporting (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advise clients on compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and emerging sustainability standards.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across AECOM to integrate sustainability solutions into broader infrastructure and development projects.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and innovative technologies in sustainability.
- Support business development activities, including proposal writing and client engagement.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability consulting, environmental management, or a related role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability frameworks, ESG reporting, and environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data collection and interpretation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., LEED AP, CESCP, GHG Protocol certification).
- Experience with life cycle assessments (LCA) or carbon footprinting tools.
- Familiarity with GIS software, data visualization tools, or advanced statistical analysis.
- Experience working with public sector clients or large industrial organizations.
- Prior experience in an international consulting environment.
