Job Description

Merit Health Biloxi is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
• Assist in positioning, draping, and preparing patients for surgery.
• Monitor and track all instruments and supplies used during procedures, ensuring accurate counts.
• Assist with patient transfer to and from the operating room.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization post-procedure.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

Required Skills

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting.
• In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs and respond quickly and effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, general surgery, cardiovascular).
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support) from AHA.
• Previous experience working with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
