Job Description

Join IBM Canada for an exciting Summer Cyber Security Internship in Mississauga, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the monitoring and analysis of security alerts and events.
• Support incident response activities, including investigation and documentation.
• Contribute to vulnerability assessments and penetration testing efforts.
• Participate in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
• Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies.
• Collaborate with security teams to enhance existing security controls and processes.
• Prepare reports and presentations on security findings and recommendations.

Required Skills

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, and operating systems.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, personal projects, or relevant activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), or vulnerability scanners.
• Knowledge of cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security) or actively pursuing them.
• Previous internship or project experience in a technical role.
