Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sunderland. You will be instrumental in the design, analysis, and delivery of diverse structural engineering projects, ranging from complex building structures to vital infrastructure components. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and infrastructure projects using relevant software and methodologies.
- Prepare detailed structural calculations, reports, and specifications in accordance with British Standards, Eurocodes, and other relevant industry regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, M&E engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate structural design with overall project requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, representing Mott MacDonald with professionalism.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and technical standards within the team.
Required Skills
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in structural design within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Robot Structural Analysis, ETABS, SAP2000, TEDDS, Tekla Structures).
- Strong understanding of British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to structural design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStructE) or actively working towards it.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and low-carbon materials.
- Experience in specific sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, or industrial buildings.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit Structures).
- Project management experience.
