Job Description
We are seeking experienced and skilled Steel Fixers to join our dynamic construction teams on various projects across Dundee, Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals who are looking to relocate to the UK, as visa sponsorship will be provided for successful candidates. As a Steel Fixer, you will be crucial in ensuring the structural integrity of our projects, working with various types of reinforcing steel to create robust foundations and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine layout and rebar requirements.
- Measure, cut, bend, and tie reinforcing steel bars (rebar) to create cages and mats for concrete structures.
- Place and secure steel bars in concrete forms to specified positions and depths.
- Utilise hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including rebar cutters, benders, and tying tools.
- Work collaboratively with concrete pour teams to ensure proper placement and support of steelwork.
- Adhere strictly to all site health, safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
- Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer on large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Proficiency in using steel fixing tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and practices.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Steel Fixing.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) relevant to steel fixing.
- Experience working on major infrastructure or commercial building projects.
- First Aid certification.
