Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Podiatrist to join our dedicated healthcare team at Spire Southampton Hospital. As a Specialist Podiatrist, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the foot and lower limb, working with a diverse patient demographic from routine care to complex cases. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive podiatric assessments, diagnose foot and lower limb conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide a range of podiatric treatments including routine foot care, nail surgery, biomechanical assessments, orthotics prescription, and wound management.
- Manage and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with clinical and GDPR guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including consultants, nurses, and physiotherapists, to ensure integrated patient care.
- Educate patients on foot health, preventative care, and self-management strategies.
- Adhere to all clinical governance, health and safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
- Utilize specialist equipment and techniques as required for complex podiatric interventions.
Required Skills
- BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or equivalent qualification recognized by the HCPC.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience in a varied podiatric setting.
- Demonstrable experience in general podiatry, nail surgery, biomechanics, and wound care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in clinical record-keeping and IT systems.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced qualifications or specialist interest in specific areas such as diabetes, rheumatology, or sports injuries.
- Experience working within a private healthcare setting.
- Demonstrable experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff.
- Participation in audit and research activities.
