Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Physicians across various medical specialties to join our dynamic teams at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert medical care to patients within your specialty, adhering to national and Trust guidelines.
• Lead ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and specialty-specific procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotas as required by the specialty.
• Contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
• Engage in clinical audit, governance activities, and quality improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in research and academic activities relevant to your specialty.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.

Required Skills

• Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent).
• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise, or eligibility for GMC registration with a clear pathway to obtain it (e.g., PLAB, MTI, CESR).
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate qualification in internal medicine or relevant specialty.
• Demonstrable experience at Registrar/Specialist level (or equivalent) in a relevant specialty.
• Excellent clinical skills and knowledge base appropriate to the specialty.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

• Evidence of leadership and management experience within a clinical setting.
• Experience in teaching and supervision of medical staff.
