Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Coordinator to join our marketing team in Calgary. This role is crucial for maintaining our brand’s voice and presence across various social media platforms, engaging with our audience, and supporting our marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social media, excellent communication skills, and a strategic mindset to help elevate WestJet’s digital footprint. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage our social media strategy across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Create, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (original text, images, video, or HTML).
- Monitor social media channels for industry trends, competitive activities, and customer feedback.
- Engage with our online community, respond to comments and messages, and foster positive customer relationships.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and customer service teams to ensure brand consistency.
- Analyze social media data and metrics to measure campaign performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications.
- Assist in the development and execution of social media advertising campaigns.
- Identify and engage with influencers and brand ambassadors to expand reach.
Required Skills
- Proven work experience as a Social Media Coordinator or similar role (minimum 2 years).
- Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok, and other social media best practices.
- Hands-on experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
- Familiarity with web design and publishing.
- Excellent copywriting, editing (photo/video/text), and communication skills.
- Analytical and multitasking skills.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Strong understanding of brand voice and tone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience in the airline or travel industry.
- Proficiency with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience with social media analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights).
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
