Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Social Media Content Moderator to join our remote team. This vital role involves reviewing user-generated content across various social media platforms, ensuring adherence to our community guidelines and fostering a safe and positive online environment for our global merchant community. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make impartial decisions quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and moderate user-generated content (text, images, video) submitted across Shopify's social media channels and related communities.
  • Enforce community guidelines, policies, and terms of service consistently and fairly.
  • Identify and escalate complex, sensitive, or high-risk content issues to appropriate internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of moderation activities and decisions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of moderation processes and content guidelines.
  • Stay informed about current social media trends, platform changes, and emerging online risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, policy, and support to address content-related concerns.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (1+ year) in social media content moderation, online community management, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional understanding of various social media platforms and their respective community standards.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • High level of empathy and emotional intelligence, particularly when dealing with sensitive content.
  • Proficiency with moderation tools and standard office software.
