Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Social Media Content Moderator to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of user-generated content across various social media platforms, aligning with our community guidelines and values. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within Canada. You will play a vital role in protecting our users, maintaining brand reputation, and contributing to a positive online environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and moderate user-generated content (text, images, video) across multiple social media platforms, ensuring compliance with community guidelines and terms of service.
- Identify and take appropriate action on content that violates policies, including hate speech, harassment, misinformation, explicit content, and spam.
- Escalate complex or sensitive issues to senior moderators or legal teams as necessary.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in content review.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of moderation policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about current social media trends, platform changes, and emerging content risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including policy, product, and engineering, to address content-related issues.
- Document moderation decisions and actions clearly and concisely.
- Participate in ongoing training and calibration sessions to ensure consistent application of policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in content moderation, trust & safety, or a related field.
- Excellent understanding of social media platforms and their respective community guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify subtle nuances in content.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with high volumes of information.
- Proven ability to make quick, sound judgments in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Comfortable working with sensitive and potentially disturbing content.
- Proficiency with moderation tools and content management systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
- Experience with multiple languages is a plus.
