Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic engineering team in Sunderland. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure and services.
- Develop and improve tools for automation, monitoring, and alerting to reduce manual intervention and improve system observability.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to and resolve critical incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure new features and services are designed for reliability and operational excellence.
- Implement and promote SRE best practices, including fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
- Manage and optimize cloud resources, ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Document systems, processes, and playbooks to ensure knowledge sharing and operational consistency.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Ruby).
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and maintaining highly available and scalable systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure Administrator Associate).
