Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Worker to join our dynamic team in Manchester. You will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal products and structures, ensuring all work adheres to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and structures according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery, including shears, brakes, punches, and welding equipment.
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets or other materials.
- Cut, bend, form, and fasten metal to create various components and finished products.
- Inspect products and structures for defects and conformance to specifications, making necessary adjustments.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with other skilled tradespersons and project managers to ensure project timelines and goals are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Expertise in operating sheet metal fabrication equipment (e.g., shears, press brakes, rollers).
- Strong welding skills (MIG, TIG, Stick) and familiarity with various metal types.
- Excellent mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification in sheet metal work.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for sheet metal fabrication.
- Valid certifications in relevant welding techniques.
- Previous experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
