Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Risk Manager to join our dynamic team in Austin, TX. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing various aspects of risk within the organization, developing robust risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks across different business units, providing strategic insights to senior leadership, and fostering a strong risk-aware culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies across the organization.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor key risks, including operational, credit, market, and strategic risks.
  • Conduct advanced quantitative and qualitative risk analyses, including stress testing, scenario planning, and portfolio analysis.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management, board committees, and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead and mentor junior risk professionals, fostering their development and expertise in risk methodologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with business units, audit, and compliance teams to integrate risk management into strategic planning and daily operations.
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to internal policies, external regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, Dodd-Frank), and industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for risk management processes, tools, and systems.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging risks and potential impacts on business strategy and performance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in risk management roles within the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring various types of financial and non-financial risks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in risk modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R, SAS).
  • In-depth understanding of global regulatory requirements and risk frameworks applicable to financial institutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and highly complex global environment.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or PRM (Professional Risk Manager).
  • Experience with GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) software solutions and enterprise risk management platforms.
  • Previous experience working in a large, global financial institution with diverse business lines.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their implications for risk management.
