Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Risk Analyst to join our dynamic team in Calgary. In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across various business units. You will leverage advanced analytical techniques to provide insights that support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across various portfolios and business lines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk models and methodologies.
  • Analyze complex financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, and business units to ensure risk management strategies are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Monitor market conditions and regulatory changes to proactively adjust risk management frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on risk-related matters to business partners.
  • Lead and participate in special projects related to risk analysis and mitigation.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Solid understanding of financial products, markets, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSFI guidelines).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and risk modeling software (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or PRM (Professional Risk Manager).
  • Experience with large datasets and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of credit risk, market risk, operational risk, or liquidity risk management.
