Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our thriving infrastructure team in Bristol. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable network solutions for Vodafone’s enterprise and consumer services. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and a proven track record in complex network environments. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure solutions (LAN/WAN, Data Centre, Cloud Connectivity).
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
- Participate in the planning and execution of network upgrades and migrations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other IT systems.
- Provide expert-level technical support and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Document network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay abreast of emerging network technologies and recommend their adoption where beneficial.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network hardware and operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies.
- Proficiency in network security (Firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network problems efficiently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE, CompTIA Network+).
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of SDN/NFV technologies.
- Scripting skills (Python, Ansible) for network automation.
- Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
