Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Legal Advisor to join our dynamic Public Sector advisory team in Manchester. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work on high-profile projects, advising public sector clients on complex legal issues, policy development, and regulatory frameworks. You will be instrumental in guiding clients through challenging legal landscapes, ensuring compliance, and supporting the delivery of public services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in public law, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to public sector clients on a wide range of legal issues, including administrative law, procurement, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Draft and review legal documents, contracts, policies, and legislative proposals.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support client projects and internal initiatives.
- Engage with senior stakeholders within client organizations, government bodies, and other advisory firms.
- Lead and mentor junior legal professionals within the team.
- Contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals and presenting to potential clients.
- Stay abreast of legal and policy developments impacting the public sector and advise clients proactively.
Required Skills
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales with a current practicing certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in public law, gained either within a leading law firm, in-house public sector legal department, or a reputable consultancy.
- Demonstrable expertise in areas such as administrative law, public procurement, data protection (GDPR), human rights, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong client relationship management skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with central government departments or local authorities.
- A Master's degree in Law or a related field.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
- Experience in training and developing junior legal staff.
