Job Description
Long Beach Unified School District is seeking an inspiring and experienced School Principal to lead one of our dynamic elementary, middle, or high schools. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional educational leader who may require visa sponsorship to join our nationally recognized district. The Principal will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, managing school operations, fostering a positive school culture, ensuring academic achievement, and engaging effectively with students, staff, parents, and the broader community. The successful candidate will be a proactive, data-driven leader committed to equity, innovation, and student-centered learning. Key Responsibilities
- Provide instructional leadership to promote a rigorous and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Manage and evaluate school staff, fostering a collaborative and professional working environment.
- Develop and implement school-wide goals and improvement plans aligned with district vision and state standards.
- Oversee the school's budget, resources, and facilities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, community members, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture and climate.
- Implement effective discipline policies and support student social-emotional development.
- Utilize data to inform instructional decisions, monitor student progress, and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal regulations, including those pertaining to visa sponsorship.
- Lead professional development initiatives for staff to enhance teaching and learning practices.
Required Skills
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.
- Valid California Administrative Services Credential or eligibility for one.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in school administration or leadership roles (e.g., Assistant Principal, Dean).
- Proven track record of improving student achievement and fostering positive school cultures.
- Strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, families, and communities.
- Eligible for and willing to pursue visa sponsorship, if required (details to be discussed during application).
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Educational Leadership or a related field.
- Experience working in a large, urban school district with diverse demographics.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially in Spanish, Khmer, or Tagalog).
- Experience with restorative justice practices and social-emotional learning programs.
- Familiarity with California's Common Core State Standards and accountability systems.
