Job Description
RBC is seeking a dedicated and analytical Risk Analyst to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. This role is crucial in supporting the identification, assessment, and mitigation of various financial and operational risks across our diverse business units. You will be responsible for conducting thorough risk analyses, developing comprehensive reports, and contributing to the enhancement of our risk management frameworks. Key Responsibilities
- Perform quantitative and qualitative risk assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain risk models, tools, and methodologies to measure and monitor various risk types.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies indicative of risk exposures.
- Prepare detailed risk reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor compliance with internal risk policies, external regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-office, operations, and IT, to implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in stress testing, scenario analysis, and capital adequacy assessments.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management processes and frameworks.
- Stay informed about evolving regulatory requirements and industry trends related to risk management.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in risk management, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, statistical packages).
- Solid understanding of financial products, markets, and risk management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as OSFI guidelines, Basel Accords, or IFRS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
- Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and model development.
- Prior experience with enterprise risk management (ERM) software platforms.
- Understanding of machine learning applications in risk management.
