Job Description

RBC is seeking a diligent and analytical Risk Analyst to join our dynamic team in Calgary. This role is crucial in helping us identify, assess, and mitigate various financial risks across our operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing robust risk management frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting strategic decision-making through insightful risk analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial risk assessments and analysis across market, credit, operational, and liquidity risks.
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators and emerging risk trends.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain risk models and methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal risk policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, OSFI guidelines).
  • Collaborate with various business units, including front office, finance, and technology, to integrate risk management practices into daily operations.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to support strategic initiatives and new product development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, markets, and risk concepts (credit, market, operational, liquidity risk).
  • Proficiency in risk modeling software (e.g., SAS, R, Python, SQL) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements applicable to Canadian financial institutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional designation (e.g., CFA, FRM).
  • Experience with large datasets and big data analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
