Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Revenue Examiner to join our dynamic team in Calgary. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and verifying financial records to ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding revenue and promoting financial integrity for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of financial records, including ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation, to ascertain the accuracy and completeness of reported revenue.
- Identify discrepancies, potential fraud, and non-compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of audit findings, including recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to clarify financial information and resolve complex issues.
- Stay current with changes in tax legislation, accounting standards, and industry best practices.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on revenue-related matters to clients and colleagues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls to enhance revenue assurance processes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Revenue Examiner, Auditor, or in a similar financial compliance role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax laws, accounting principles (ASPE/IFRS), and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation (e.g., CPA, CIA).
- Experience with data analytics tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with various industry-specific revenue recognition practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
