Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our dynamic team within a department focused on critical government-funded research initiatives. This role involves contributing to cutting-edge projects with real-world impact, focusing on specific areas of scientific inquiry aligned with national priorities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and executing experiments, analyzing complex data sets, and contributing to high-impact publications and reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and execute experimental protocols to address specific research questions.
• Collect, process, and analyze scientific data using appropriate statistical and computational methods.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and experimental documentation.
• Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings, conferences, and to external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the drafting of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and research reports.
• Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines within the laboratory environment.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including other scientists, technicians, and project managers.
• Mentor junior researchers and students as required.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in the field.

Required Skills

• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Sciences, or related field).
• Demonstrable experience (minimum 3 years post-PhD) in designing and conducting scientific experiments.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
• A strong publication record or significant contributions to research projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postdoctoral research experience in a relevant field.
• Experience working on government-funded projects or within a public sector research environment.
• Proficiency in specific advanced analytical techniques relevant to the research area (e.g., mass spectrometry, genomics, advanced microscopy, computational modeling).
• Experience with grant writing or proposal development.
• Project management experience.
