Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Renewable Energy Engineer to join our innovative team in Uptown Houston. This critical role involves contributing to the design, development, and optimization of Shell’s renewable energy projects, focusing primarily on solar, wind, or battery storage solutions. You will be instrumental in driving our transition to sustainable energy, working on projects that have a global impact. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and energy yield analyses for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage).
  • Design and optimize renewable energy systems, including component selection, layout planning, and performance modeling.
  • Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, environmental specialists, and legal advisors, to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical support during project construction, commissioning, and operation.
  • Stay abreast of emerging renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Perform data analysis and generate reports on project performance and energy output.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices within the renewable energy division.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in renewable energy project development, design, or engineering.
  • Proficiency with renewable energy design software (e.g., PVsyst, WindFarmer, HOMER Pro).
  • Strong understanding of electrical grids, power electronics, and energy storage systems.
  • Experience with project lifecycle management and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with large-scale utility-grade renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of energy markets and regulatory frameworks in the US.
  • Familiarity with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) standards in energy projects.
  • PMP or other project management certification.
