Job Description
Join Rev.com’s global network of freelance Transcriptionists and Captioners! This is a fantastic opportunity to work remotely, set your own hours, and earn money by transforming audio and video into accurate text. You’ll listen to diverse content, from interviews and podcasts to lectures and documentaries, and accurately transcribe or caption it. Our platform offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to choose projects that fit your availability and interests. No prior experience is required, but a strong grasp of English grammar, excellent listening skills, and attention to detail are crucial. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio and video files into text, ensuring high quality and adherence to Rev's style guidelines.
- Create precise captions and subtitles for video content, syncing text with dialogue and sound effects.
- Review and edit your own work for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and completeness.
- Manage your workload efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Utilize Rev's proprietary online platform and tools for transcription and captioning.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong listening comprehension and ability to discern speech in various accents and audio qualities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable internet connection and a computer with appropriate software.
- Ability to type quickly and accurately (minimum 60 WPM recommended).
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transcription, captioning, or data entry.
- Familiarity with style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style).
- Experience with transcription software or tools.
- Ability to work with diverse content topics and subject matters.
