Job Description
Join Memorial Hermann Health System as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and become a vital part of our compassionate behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients experiencing mental health conditions, ensuring their well-being, promoting recovery, and upholding the highest standards of patient safety and dignity. This position requires a dedicated professional with strong clinical skills and a profound commitment to mental health advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessments, to identify patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications safely and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions, specifically relating to psychotropic drugs.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and supportive counseling, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, medication management, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to care planning and discharge planning processes.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, adhering to all safety protocols and policies.
Required Skills
- Current Texas RN license in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a mental health or psychiatric setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care independently and collaboratively.
- Strong understanding of mental health conditions, psychiatric medications, and therapeutic communication techniques.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse (PMHN) certification (e.g., ANCC board certification).
- Experience with various age groups within a behavioral health setting.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
