Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our esteemed oncology department in Canary Wharf, London. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed courses of radiation therapy treatments in accordance with treatment plans and physician orders.

  • Perform daily quality assurance checks on equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor patients during treatment, observing for adverse reactions and providing immediate support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment parameters, patient progress, and any incidents.
  • Collaborate effectively with oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and nurses to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families about the treatment process, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Adhere strictly to all radiation safety protocols and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and training to stay current with advancements in radiation therapy.
  • Assist with patient positioning, immobilization, and imaging for treatment verification.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Radiation Therapy or Radiography.
  • Current professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Radiation Therapist.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating linear accelerators and treatment planning systems.
  • Excellent understanding of radiation safety principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Eligibility for visa sponsorship to work in the UK.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
