Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Utilities Specialist to join our dynamic team in Belfast. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of our utility services. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of public utility projects, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and operational excellence. This is an on-site position based at our Belfast office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate public utility projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and industry regulations and standards.
  • Liaise effectively with government agencies, local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify issues, propose solutions, and support strategic planning for utility infrastructure.
  • Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor utility performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond to public inquiries and resolve issues related to utility services.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and execution as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years (48 months) of experience in the utilities sector or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of public utility operations, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Experience with GIS and other utility-specific software.
  • Knowledge of Northern Ireland's specific utility regulations and landscape.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and public relations.
