Job Description

Leidos is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Public Trust Security Specialist to join our team in Greenville, SC. In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the security posture and compliance of critical systems and data, primarily supporting government contracts requiring a Public Trust clearance. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security controls, conducting security assessments, and assisting with incident response activities. This position requires a strong understanding of federal security regulations, including NIST frameworks, and the ability to work collaboratively within a complex operational environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach to security challenges, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor security controls in accordance with NIST 800-53 and other relevant federal guidelines.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) and other security documentation required for Public Trust environments.
  • Provide security guidance and support to project teams throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Participate in security incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and recovery.
  • Educate and train staff on security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during security reviews and assessments.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring and reporting of security posture to stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or IT compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with NIST Special Publications (e.g., 800-53, 800-37).
  • Familiarity with federal security regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Experience in developing and maintaining security documentation (SSPs, POAMs).
  • Proficiency with security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH).
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of various operating systems and network protocols.
  • Prior experience working on government contracts.
