Job Description
Deloitte is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Sector Program Specialist to join our growing team in Fairbanks, Alaska. This role is crucial in supporting government clients with critical program management, strategic planning, and operational improvement initiatives. The Specialist will work closely with client stakeholders and Deloitte teams to design, implement, and manage programs that drive efficiency, innovation, and effectiveness within the public sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of government operations, excellent project management skills, and a passion for public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee various aspects of public sector programs, ensuring alignment with client objectives and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets for assigned programs.
- Conduct research and analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making for public sector clients.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops, building consensus and driving progress.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and other deliverables for client leadership.
- Identify risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies and escalating as necessary.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for complex public sector challenges.
- Monitor program performance and report on key metrics and outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in program or project management within the public sector or government consulting.
- Demonstrated experience with government contracting and procurement processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Political Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., MPA, MBA).
- PMP or other relevant project management certification.
- Experience with state or local government entities in Alaska.
- Knowledge of specific public sector domains such as healthcare, education, or defense.
- Experience with change management methodologies.
