Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Sector Program Specialist to join our dynamic team in Southampton. In this hybrid role, you will play a crucial part in the successful delivery of complex programs and projects for our public sector clients. You will be responsible for supporting program managers, coordinating activities, managing stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role requires a deep understanding of public sector environments, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Program and Project Managers in planning, executing, and closing projects and programs within the public sector portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, tracking progress against milestones.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government officials and client representatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation related to program status, risks, and issues.
  • Monitor project risks and issues, escalating as necessary and supporting the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, internal methodologies, and public sector regulations.
  • Support resource allocation and management across multiple public sector initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between diverse project teams and external partners.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in program or project coordination within the public sector.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of public sector processes, governance, and stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile PM).
  • Experience with change management initiatives in a public sector context.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Familiarity with UK government digital service standards or similar frameworks.
