Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Prosecutor to join our esteemed team. The successful candidate will be responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the People of the State of California, specifically within the jurisdiction of San Francisco. This role involves complex legal work, including trial advocacy, legal research, plea negotiations, and victim support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to public service, an excellent understanding of criminal law and procedure, and proven courtroom experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research and factual investigation for assigned cases.
- Prepare and present cases in various courts, including preliminary hearings, motions, and jury trials.
- Draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, and appellate briefs.
- Negotiate plea agreements and participate in sentencing recommendations.
- Interview witnesses, victims, and law enforcement officers.
- Provide support and information to victims and their families throughout the judicial process.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
- Stay current with developments in criminal law, procedure, and relevant case law.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a prosecuting attorney or similar trial experience.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
- Excellent courtroom advocacy and public speaking skills.
- Strong legal research and writing abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound legal judgments and work under pressure.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in complex felony prosecution.
