Job Description

Nutrien Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Public Policy Coordinator to join our Government and Public Affairs team in Saskatoon. This role is crucial for supporting our engagement with government stakeholders, industry associations, and regulatory bodies across Canada. The Public Policy Coordinator will assist in monitoring policy developments, conducting research, preparing reports, and coordinating advocacy efforts to advance Nutrien’s strategic objectives in sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and economic growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at federal, provincial, and municipal levels that impact Nutrien's operations and industry.
  • Conduct research on key policy issues, synthesize information, and prepare concise summaries, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions, position papers, and advocacy materials for government consultations and industry dialogues.
  • Support the coordination of meetings, events, and engagement activities with government officials, policy makers, and industry partners.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of policy documents, stakeholder contacts, and engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, sustainability, and communications, to ensure alignment of public policy efforts.
  • Help organize and facilitate internal policy working groups and information sharing sessions.
  • Provide administrative support to the Government and Public Affairs team as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Economics, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 36 months (3 years) of experience in public policy, government relations, or a related field, preferably within a corporate, government, or association setting.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in drafting policy briefs, reports, and correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience working in the agriculture, natural resources, or chemical industries.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian legislative and regulatory process, particularly in Saskatchewan and Ottawa.
  • Previous experience with stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
