Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Specialist to join our dedicated team in Arlington, VA. This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs designed to improve community health outcomes. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in health promotion, disease prevention, and health equity initiatives, contributing directly to the well-being of the communities Inova serves. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage public health programs and interventions focusing on disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Conduct community health needs assessments and utilize data to inform program development and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and community partners to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, ensuring alignment with public health best practices and organizational goals.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and grant applications related to public health initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to community health workers and other stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of current public health research, policies, and emerging health threats.
  • Advocate for policies and resources that support public health objectives and address health disparities.
  • Engage with diverse populations to understand health needs and tailor interventions appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant public health regulations and ethical guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in public health program development and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in community health assessment, program evaluation, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of health disparities, social determinants of health, and health equity principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in Public Health (CPH).
  • Experience working within a large healthcare system or non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community (e.g., Spanish).
