Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and insightful Public Health Analyst to join our team in Portland, ME. This role is crucial in supporting our public health initiatives by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting health data to identify trends, evaluate programs, and inform policy decisions. The Public Health Analyst will work collaboratively with various departments and community partners to enhance population health outcomes, contributing directly to MaineHealth’s mission of fostering healthier communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and manage public health data from diverse sources, including electronic health records, surveys, and vital statistics.
- Perform statistical analysis and epidemiological investigations to identify health trends, disparities, and risk factors within the community.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentations to effectively communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of public health programs and interventions, providing data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in grant writing and research proposals related to public health projects.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, researchers, and community organizations on various public health initiatives.
- Stay current with public health best practices, research methodologies, and relevant data analysis tools.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in public health data analysis, epidemiology, or a closely related analytical role.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of public health principles, research methodologies, and data management practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or a related field.
- Experience with GIS software for mapping health data.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and electronic health record (EHR) data.
- Experience working with diverse community populations and stakeholders.
