Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Probation Officer to join our team in Manchester. As a Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing offenders in the community, assessing risks, and developing intervention plans aimed at reducing reoffending and protecting the public. Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of offenders, conducting thorough risk assessments and needs analysis.
• Develop and implement robust sentence plans, identifying appropriate interventions and support services.
• Monitor offenders' compliance with court orders and licence conditions, taking prompt action in cases of non-compliance.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for courts and parole boards, providing clear and concise recommendations.
• Liaise effectively with partner agencies, including police, prisons, and local authorities, to ensure coordinated offender management.
• Provide advice, guidance, and support to offenders, motivating them towards positive change and rehabilitation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all case management activities are properly documented.
• Engage with victims of crime, providing information and support where appropriate.

Required Skills

• Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology).
• Proven experience in offender management, social work, or a related public service role.
• Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and probation legislation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and make sound professional judgments.
• Demonstrated resilience and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and utilizing case management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP) or equivalent.
