Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Private Equity Intern to join our Investment Banking division in Nairobi. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the private equity landscape within a global financial institution. The intern will support our investment teams in various stages of the investment process, from market research and deal sourcing to due diligence and portfolio management. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in finance, investment banking, or private equity, offering exposure to real-world transactions and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth market research and industry analysis to identify potential investment opportunities.
- Assist in financial modeling, valuation analysis, and due diligence processes for prospective deals.
- Prepare presentation materials, investment memos, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the team in deal sourcing, screening, and evaluating investment proposals.
- Monitor performance of portfolio companies and assist with quarterly reporting.
- Participate in client meetings and internal strategy sessions, contributing valuable insights.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and research assignments as required by the investment team.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a solid understanding of financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets, investment banking, or private equity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship experience in a finance-related role (e.g., investment banking, private equity, corporate finance).
- Familiarity with financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ).
- Basic knowledge of valuation methodologies (DCF, multiples).
- Fluency in additional local languages.
